Finding and Buying Tubers

The variety of dahlias is amazing. Tubers can be purchased at your local garden store, but find them growing to see the depth of colors and range of sizes.

Late summer is the time to catch the best blooms. Check the newspaper events section for dahlia shows. Then go to see prize winning dahlias on display, and find local supplier information and gardening tips.

Many dahlia growers are home businesses. Take a country drive and read the small signs or look for a roadside stand selling bouquets. You may find one open to the public, where you can walk the rows and select your favorites. They may even take your order on the spot, and ship the tubers to your door at spring planting time.
