Problem with Firefox 3.0.11 Tabs and History

To solve the problem when Firefox 3.0.11 does not save tabs and history. (I don't know if this works for other versions.)

  • Select the Tools menu.
  • Select Options.
  • Select Privacy.
  • In the Private Data section, de-select "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox."
  • Select "Ask me before clearing private data."
  • Click "Settings" button.
  • De-select "Browsing History" box.
  • Select OK, OK to exit and save changes.

When you quit Firefox, it will ask "Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?"

  • Make sure "Do not ask next time." is de-selected.
  • If you select "Save and Quit" your tabs and history will be restored when you open Firefox again.
  • If you select "Quit" your tabs will be cleared but your history will be saved.

To manually clear your browsing history before exiting Firefox:

  • Select the Tools menu.
  • Select the Browsing History Box.
  • Click the "Clear Private Data Now" button: this will clear your browsing history.
  • If you "Save and Quit" your tabs will be restored and your history will be clear when you next open Firefox.
  • If you "Quit" your tabs and history will both be cleared.
